“ Love this spot! Speedy service. Amazing baked goods and such a cute interior...some of my favorite savory pastries in the city ”
“ I've been to Dominique Ansel so many times but this is my first at their Workshop! I was excited to check out their savory pastries, and they did not disappoint! The spinach and gruyere quiche was delicious. Not only was the egg part really soft and balanced out the pesto-like spinach flavors, but also the layer of cheese made a great cheese pull while offering additional textures. Even with just microwaving to reheat it, the crust was still intact and flakey. The plié featured strong earl grey tea flavors and mascarpone on the other side. Wish it had more pecans but otherwise was tasty! The flourless chocolate pecan cookie had the right amount of chew and crispiness for a cookie, and loved the generous amount of chocolate chunks/pecans. The store only has 2-3 high top tables and can feel a little busy with the bakery hustle in the background. Good amount of seating outdoors with floral decorations. Staff were really friendly and nice!! ”
“ This is a lovely bakery with lots of tempting options for pastry lovers. A beautiful floral arrangement adorns the front door. I loved their signature caramelized pastry. It was flaky, crispy, and perfectly sweet. The honeycrisp apple and vanilla riz au lait strudel was also delicious, with a generous amount of creamy apple strudel in the center. Their weekend special honey cake was light with subtle flavor. The cashier was very friendly and warm. Definitely worth a stop in for a fancy treat. ”
“ Today was my second time going to Dominique Ansel Workshop, where I got, for the second time, a gingerbread croissant. A seasonal item, the twice-baked pastry tastes almost like a cross between a gingerbread cookie and croissant. The top layer has a wonderful cinnamon spice, almond frangipane, toasted pecans, decorated by marshmallow stars. Dense, rich, and decadent, the pastry was wonderful. A few nibbles were good enough for breakfast. As others have noted, the workshop is much smaller than the main SoHo bakery both in size and menu selection. That said, the service is similarly top-notch and very friendly. A store manager kindly passed out DAK kouign amann samples to customers waiting in line. It also has a beautiful floral decoration at the entrance, tastefully inviting. The only downside for me are the many steps from outside into the restaurant, making it difficult for strollers. There is a button for wheelchair assistance. ”
“ Sweet gem found right near my hotel so had to stop by. Do yourself a favor and get the signature DKA and get like 5. You will thank me later. Every bite was perfection: sweet, crunchy and gooey. The croissant with egg was also perfection. The egg was so fluffy and croissant so flaky. Definitely want to try everything on the menu. Service was really great and fast. Couple standing tables inside to eat and some outside. ”
“ Dominique Ansel Workshop is the smaller and pastries-only test kitchen of the Dominique Ansel bakeries. Here, you'll find the limited-edition, weekend-special, blink-and-they're-gone bakery items. It's takeout only, but there are a few tables outside if you want to savor your treats right away. * Brown Sugar Kouign Amann (DKA): a true standout. Each bite was perfectly crisp and flaky, with layers of caramelized brown sugar adding a satisfying sweetness that wasn't too overpowering. * Cherry Blossom Castella Cake: super light and spongey, with a delicate floral taste. Sadly, only a weekend special. * Blooming Hot Chocolate: Rich, thick chocolate with a marshmallow flower that "blooms" as it melts- delightful! ”
“ This is Dominique Ansel's test kitchen for new dessert creations. Treated myself to a passion fruit cream and honeycomb brioche. It was delicious. Also spotted chef in the kitchen. Will need to go back to try some other pastries! ”
“ Waited in line to order and finally received our items and went to the back to dine. Amazing bakery and pastry shop with a variety of teas, coffees and drinks to choose from. Yes there is a wait but if it is your first time you must try it for sure. Tightly squeezed but the line moves relatively quick. ”
“ Pastries only at this location. If you're looking for special edition, special event driven treats, this is your place. We'd seen a post on Insta about a truffle-chocolate-caramel tart & I knew e had to make the special trip And yeah........it totally surpassed every expectation. Eye rolling good. The perfect treat for an afternoon sugar boost No restrooms, no restaurant like setup but Erte were tables outside which was perfect to celebrate the weekend-special edition that and the gorgeous weather for the Holiday Weekend ”
“ Very impressed with this bakery indeed. First day arrived in Manhattan and we went to get some baked goodies here. After looking at the reviews we decided to get the olive oil croissant, Japanese sausage pastry, and the DKA (kouign amann). All of them were SO good and even we didn't finish them for the first day, they stayed moist for us to enjoy the next day. Highly recommended. Will visit again when I can. ”
